Elderly blessings...

So being 4 hours away from the closest family has made it a bit difficult on making sure Judah sees his great-grandparents, let alone his grandparents. We've already quickly learned that 4 hours of driving is no longer a pleasant "quick trip". Now its a 5 hour trip with me in the back pumping so that I can feed Judah a bottle while Joe continues to drive. We're only on kid #1 and I wish there was a cheap flight into St. Louis to make it easier. I never thought I'd be one of those moms who hate when the "routine" (if you can even call it that) gets messed up and his sleep schedule gets messed up. And yet, God blesses us greatly, knowing our needs before we even truly know them.

We have the great blessing of a church "family". Brothers and sisters in Christ fellowshipping and working together for God's kingdom. And while I may be close friends with women who are my parents' age, we are also blessed with close friends who are my grandparents' age. One such blessing is Wilbur. Wilbur is in his 80's and God brings our little family so much joy through him. Every Sunday he sits down and holds out his arms for Judah. When Judah was just born, he'd sleep happily in Wilbur's arms while we talked. Now Judah's squirming, laughing, smiling, and talking with Wilbur. He's such a wonderful influence for our son, and I pray that Judah may come to know him someday as a "father" in the faith. Praise God for such rich blessings like Wilbur.
