Wow. A year. I didn't know time, which is a constant steady thing without an actual speed, could whiz by so quickly! It's hard to remember all the wonderful things God has blessed our little family with in one year. Here's how God has been working in our lives from April to April.
1. Judah Knox was born! Our spring came in with a little lion cub, who has quickly gone from a loveable lump of cuddles to an into-everything sweet baby boy. God has greatly blessed us with a joyful child who is kinda a momma's boy, but loves its-early-so-into-our-bed daddy cuddles. His language has blossomed lately, with "baba" (baby) "da" (daddy) and "pes" (please). O and also "lala" (llama).
2. Working diligently is an understatement for my wonderful husband. Not only has God blessed him with a 40 hour a week job, but roles as hubby and father, church intern (which in itself has many roles), student, and work bible study leader. His attitude through it all has been like an over-excited school boy who's so excited to get his new books. Praise God for Joe...
3. To homeschool or not to homeschool? The ever-asked question of my heart at the moment. I know Judah's not even 1 yet (2 more weeks!), but I have this tension in my heart that tells me I should know this. I've had the great blessing of teaching a 2 hour preschool-3rd grade class on Monday afternoons for a homeschool co-op in our church. While it's had its challenges, it really has opened up the world of homeschooling to me. So this has been my constant research project, both asking homeschooling families how they started, what curriculum they prefer, why they do it, to looking at the actual curriculum, reading books on it, checking out state laws, etc. Truthfully, I love it, but I fear to take the plunge all the same. We'll see.
4. Diabetes stinks, but what good is whining? It's an odd blessing, but God took away my pump for a weekend (malfunction lead to a weekend of shots). It was the best control I've had since pregnancy. If only I could keep it up and we'd have the ability to think about another little one!
5. Babies out of our ears- Since Judah was born, 2 friends had theirs in the same week, another a month and a week later, Joe's brother and his wife in Scotland had their first little one (boy), a friend at church had a boy, and my sister, Joe's brother and his wife (having twins), as well as his sister and her husband, and my cousin all announced that they're pregnant, and a friend is having one in October! Count 'em (including our little dude)... 12! All since Judah's birth, so that's not even counting the 5 born in the few months before his April birth! Praise the Lord for so many children...
I'm sure there's more, but truthfully, I'm just overwhelmed by what I CAN remember. Praise the Lord for working in so many magnificent ways.
6.
Isn't it amazing to look back at one year ago? Matt and I were reflecting on our blessings of the past year just a month or so ago: an approval for a treatment we didn't think would be approved, an unexpected layoff, a new job offer less than 1 month of being without work, one with a salary increase so I could return to being a stay home mom. God is so good...and so gracious!
ReplyDeleteMy attitude about homeschooling changed after I read a few books on the subject. I think its wonderful. So if you can, I say do it! I believe God has made us capable for a reason!
ReplyDeleteNo need to stress about homeschooling yet. Give it some time. I really thought we'd homeschool, but ever since Truett entered his pre-school years, I've found that he and I may not be the best match in terms of student-teacher. He seems to focus much better when learning from someone else for a long period of time. Each child is different in their needs.
